Teaching You To Teach Your Dog

Over A Decade of Experience

Rachel Garner

I have been training animals for over a decade using primarily  positive reinforcement techniques. I started studying in dog training at a very young age and never looked back. Now I specialize in helping owners connect with their dogs like never before while teaching them the skills to work together for the rest of their lives.

My academic background is in ethology (animal behavior) and animal cognition. My academic critique of popular dog training practices, The Damage of Dog Whispering, is internationally known in the dog training community. I mentored under multiple positive reinforcement trainers as a teen and spent my last two years of college as an apprentice in the behavior department at my local shelter, where I focused on helping with temperament evaluations for incoming dogs.

In addition to my experience with domestic animals, I've spent the last five years involved in zoo animal management through various volunteer positions. I also spent two years as an educator at the New England Aquarium where I specialized in teaching guests about animal behavior and training within the institution.

I am professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and a supporting member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC). I have been certified in Pet First Aid & CPR since 2015.
